Much like my morning coffee, I, too, like to savor soil. Recycled Grounds is a healing soil amendment, and it’s made right here in America. It doesn’t have to travel far to find its second life in your back garden. Grab your morning joe and read a brief post on how you can help save soil from the climate crisis.
“Coal is extracted via two methods: Underground mining uses heavy machinery to cut coal from deep underground deposits, while surface mining (also known as strip mining) removes entire layers of soil and rock to access coal deposits below. Strip mining accounts for about two-thirds of coal sourced in the United States. Although both forms of mining are detrimental to the environment, strip mining is particularly destructive, uprooting and polluting entire ecosystems.” Fossil Fuels: The Dirty Facts, By Melissa Denchak
Adding Recycled Grounds to the soil amends your garden’s ecosystem. In the video, Recycled Grounds that Tells a Story, we experiment with a small section of soil by adding the Recycled Grounds product to the topsoil for about a week. After a week, we dug into the soil, and this is what we discovered:
- Weeds were easier to extract (especially pulling those plantain lilies).
- Earthworms were crawling all over the soil (aerating the soil).
- Recycled Grounds is made of coffee, so the soil is rich with nutrients.
- As we turned over the soil, it revealed many dead slugs.
- Adding a layer of mulch over Recycled Grounds helped drainage and kept the topsoil in place.
Recycled Grounds soil amendment is available to buy at Public House by WeRoast Shopify store.
