Recycled Grounds product kills slugs and pests naturally.
“Coffee can also deter or kill slugs and snails. Brewer said research shows that a 1% to 2% caffeine solution used as a soil drench caused all slugs to leave treated soil and die of caffeine poisoning.” – Linda Brewer, Senior Faculty Research Assistant II, Department of Horticulture.
We prepared the land by adding Recycled Grounds product to sandy/loamy soil. The land had Hostas (plantain lilies) and a smattering of grass. We sifted Recycled Grounds over the topsoil. After a week, we took our spade and mixed the Recycled Grounds product into the soil, not too deeply. Next, we found a slew of dead slugs. Recycled Grounds soil amendment works. Next, we planted the following: A Romance Pink Nemesia Fruiticans, Petunias, Purple Face Trailing Pansy, and the Blue Note Pincushion Flower. These flowers joined the tea rose and rose bushes, which were planted earlier.
